
BIOGRAPHY
Soprano Melinda Kirigin-Voss is a professional vocalist and pianist, performing at live concerts, corporate events, weddings, receptions, private parties, funerals, and studio recordings. She is an extremely versatile singer, able to perform many different styles ranging from pop to musical theater to classical. Melinda has performed with the Utah Symphony, the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, Marvin Hamlisch, and as a background vocalist for Broadway star Elaine Paige. She sings at live concerts for the Excellence in the Community Concert Series in Salt Lake City, regularly performing at venues including the Gallivan Center, Covey Center for the Arts, the Viridian Center, and Peery's Egyptian Theater. Melinda has participated in several international concert tours, including Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, and Israel. She has sung with the Utah Chamber Artists, one of Utah’s premier professional choral ensembles, for nearly 20 years and is frequently featured as a soprano soloist. In addition, Melinda has served as the Director of Music at St. Thomas More Catholic Church since 2015.
Melinda began her musical career at an early age. At age 5, she was a soloist on the children’s album, Small Songs for Small Fry. She later began studying piano and organ at age 7. By the time she was only 11 years old, she took over as the principal accompanist for St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and went on to become the Director of Music until relocating to Chicago in 2001. While living in Chicago, Melinda was the Director of Music at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. She was also a member of An Octave Above, a professional 8-voice vocal jazz a cappella group, and The St. Charles Singers, a 35-voice professional choir.
Melinda graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Utah, where she studied music and vocal performance. She has studied voice with JoAnn Ottley, Michael Chipman, and Marjo Burdette, and piano and organ with JoAnn Harmon. Melinda has recorded three solo albums, one album with Michael Chipman and Jared Pierce, two albums with An Octave Above, and numerous choral albums with the Utah Chamber Artists and St. Charles Singers.
